Welcome to Alaias Online Workshop! If you have participated in any of our other courses, you should know how our course works. If this is your first experience with us, allow me to introduce you to how the course works:
Our courses are called Workshops, precisely because they are not theoretical courses. Here, you get your hands dirty side-by-side with me, just like I do in face-to-face courses. The difference is that I will be on the other side of the screen. But that doesn't mean you won't have my help! I am committed to all students within our Support Community, which is on Telegram. We use this application because there, you can see all old messages and media, so all doubts and debates about the Courses are saved. If you are not yet a member, contact us and I will send you the link to join (only for Students).
You will have at your disposal, in addition to my support, video lessons, and theoretical materials in PDF, including the design of different types of Alaia and Paipo! All of this is in the Course Archives section, next to the class player. With this course, you will be able to make X different types of boards.
About the materials and tools: As explained on the Course Page, the course is 100% Online, but that doesn't mean you won't have our support. You can find the right wood, the right materials, the right tools anywhere in the world! I assure you of this because we have students of this platform spread around the world. It doesn't matter where you are, what matters is your willingness to start!
We use Paulownia Wood as a standard, and in addition to that, you'll need a Hand Planer, a Rasp, a Hacksaw, Sandpaper, and a ruler, and some kind of waterproofing oil. With that you can already start building your Alaias. It is not necessary to use any power tools. However, in this course, I teach both ways. So, if you want to become a manufacturer and produce on a large scale, you will also have this training.
At the end of the course, contact us, send us a picture of your finished board and we will send you the Shaper Certificate in Alaias!
I hope you enjoy and make good use of the Course.
Regards,
David Weber
