Lesson 12 - Leash and Vent Plugs

In this class, we will install the leash plugs, and valve. In addition to teaching how to properly install both plugs, I will test to simulate the operation of the Gore-Tex breather system. This valve system allows air to enter and exit the board while preventing water from entering. We must put a valve on our board because the variations in temperature on the board also generate variations in the internal pressure, which must always be equal to the local atmospheric pressure.

If you can not get a valve with the Gore-Tex system, you can also install a manual valve, which you must manually open and close each time you put your board in the water. But you can not forget your board with the valve closed!
